How Television Trading Works
The most common currency we trade with advertisers is in on a ‘cost per thousand’ or CPT basis. With a CPT and budget in place an advertiser can buy a certain amount of ‘TV ratings’ of TVRs. A TVR is a measure which equates to a percentage of the total potential viewing audience. If the amount of adults with multichannel is 44 million, and you buy 50 adult TVRs, you are buying a number of adults viewings of you advert equal to 50% of the potential number who could view. In this instance your 50 adult TVRs would buy 22 million adult viewings, or impacts.
The number of people who view our TV channels, as well as your commercials, is measured and reported by an independent body knows as BARB (Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board).
