Digital Switchover

The government has committed to the upgrading of the UK’s terrestrial TV broadcast network to become fully digital by the end of 2012.

The switchover process will take several years and roll out TV region by region, with Border due to be the first to cease analogue transmission in 2009. Analogue transmission will only be switched off once 98.5% of households can receive digital terrestrial television (DTT), the same percentage that can currently receive analogue terrestrial TV.
